The price of Bitcoin hit a new all-time high of $24,085 today, capping a blockbuster week in the crypto markets.

Though the asset has settled back down to around $23,700, Bitcoin is still up 5% today and nearly 30% for the week.

Bitcoin, by far the largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has been maintaining momentum since October, but things accelerated significantly on Thursday when it rose by around $20,000 to $23,000 overnight.

This gave a boost to altcoins, and Litecoin in particular; the Bitcoin alternative has shot up over 50% this week.
