Swiss-based luxury watchmaker Hublot is now accepting bitcoin as a form of payment, starting with the release of a limited-edition collection of 200 pieces from Big Bang Unico. Announcement Company.
While the release begins with this limited-edition collection, the addition of bitcoin to the platform will not be far off for the United States e-boutique. The company partnered with Bitpay to bring the functionality to this limited release, but its partnership will continue.
To secure one of the watches in this collection, customers will have to pay approximately $21,800 or, a little more than the current price of 1 BTC. The Big Bang collection is Hublot’s flagship design and the Uniqlo limited offering is made from Titanium.
Nevertheless, Hublot is not the only luxury brand co-opting the bitcoin ecosystem. In fact, fashion retailers Gucci, Farfetch and Balenciaga have previously announced limited trials or full acceptance for payments for bitcoin. Similarly, luxury jewelry reseller SFLMaven, as well as Continental Diamond Jewelery Store, also announced that they will start accepting bitcoin.
On the same note, Hublot is also not the only Swiss-based luxury watchmaker to start accepting bitcoin. On May 19, Tag Heuer announced that it would also begin accepting digital currency for its online platform.
Bitpay and other cryptocurrency infrastructure providers continue to allow businesses such as the aforementioned luxury brands to attract an entirely new customer base through the use of bitcoin. The support provided to these businesses allows them to participate in the bitcoin ecosystem without the need for technical know-how.
