As the SEC v. Ripple case is going on longer than expected, defense attorney James K. Philon shared another update.
According to the latest update, Judge Torres has partially granted the parties’ requests to keep documents secret related to Emmys motions participating in the Daubert events. The said amendments are to be submitted by July 15, 2022.
The said update comes after Ripple defendants claimed that the SEC had taken an extreme stand on the matter of expert reports. The recent letter, addressed to Judge Annalisa Torres, said the accuser was attempting to silence the criticism.
According to Ripple, the SEC requested that Ripple’s challenges against the three SEC experts not be disclosed. In addition, the judge’s decision towards fourth expert Patrick B. Dodi is still pending.
‘A Positive Outlook’
An attorney, Jeremy Hogan, claims that Judge Torres’ decision regarding the parties’ request to seal the documents was a positive view as it would allow the majority of citizens to know the opinion of experts.
Fourth expert, Patrick Doody’s involvement in the SEC v. Ripple case when the court held that XRP holders can act as amicus curiae or advisors to the court.
The SEC claimed in recent legal papers that making expert opinion known could damage the context and engage in further harassment and bullying.
Accordingly, we will have to wait and see how the proceedings proceed after July 15, 2022.
