SEC granted permission to file supplementary report on Ripple case
The US Securities and Exchange Commission secured a minor victory against blockchain company Ripple earlier today, after Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn allowed it to file a supplementary expert report.
The expert search was originally scheduled to end on January 14, but that deadline has now been moved several times due to several controversies. The supplementary reports were not taken into account in the search program issued by the court.
As U.Today reports, Ripple hit out at a new refutation report last month by securities and finance expert Dr. Albert Metz. It described the report as “permissive”, arguing that the new version of the report did not bring anything new to the table. Ripple claimed that the SEC should not have made the final decision in the discovery process.
The report in question is meant to show the “economic importance” of Ripple’s public announcement regarding the performance of the XRP token. The deadline for the search to reintroduce Dr. Metz has now been extended to May 13.
In other news, the SEC recently informed the court that it was going to make new privilege claims in a final effort to halt the production of emails related to the infamous Ethereum speech of William Hinman, the former director of the SEC’s corporate division. finance.
