According to The Guardian article, the first NFT projects began looking for “vibe managers” at the end of 2, 2022, amid an unprecedented decline in interest in NFT trading, the arts, and the segment as a whole.

The article says that “Vibes Managers” should “promote NFT projects to new ones while reassuring existing funders.” As such, by and large, they are responsible for an atmosphere of enthusiasm regardless of price movements:

The last NFT NYC conference that hit the headlines was in June and was the epitome of artificial positivity. Despite falling prices and disappearing media coverage, the festival was supported by top tier celebrities, including Lil Baby, Timbaland and Haim.
The Guardian spoke to one of the first “vibe managers”. He shared that his work is all about “marketing” and that it is no different from the familiar community management in Web 3.
The Magical Power of “Welcome Vibes”
Chief Vibes executives must engage with the community and create and promote content on Twitter and other social media platforms. In general, this is a full-time job that involves the “ears and eyes” of the product.
At the same time, “Vibes Officers” themselves do not see their work as confusing or hypocritical. One of them said that their main mission is to create a conducive environment for new NFT investors to feel better.
I compare it to someone who goes to a bar for the first time, that they paid thousands of dollars to go in. If they go in and no one accepts them, it’s a failure. If they walk in and people are hugging them, (…) cheering them on, they’ll feel a lot more welcome.
