As political polarization continues to increase, it is becoming increasingly difficult for a political party to find its ideological home. In today’s political climate, all of you should be with the party. This adherence to dogma applies to both the Republican and Democrat parties. If you deviate from the party line on an issue, you are immediately crucified as a turncoat, traitor or outcast.
There is no room for rational political debate like in the days before our country became a nation. At the time, people could engage in a deep and engaging conversation about issues without being called heretic to consider the other side of an argument.
Today, we only get sound bites, 30 second assault ads, and Twitter stings. How can the average person make an informed decision when they can’t even get accurate information about anything?
Do you think you can turn to the old media for unbiased information? think again. Political polarization has also taken over the media. Americans are increasingly being silenced in the content they consume online and on TV. 17% of Americans are politically polarized based on their TV news consumption, with 8.7% of Americans polarized on the left side of the political aisle, compared to 8.4% for Americans polarized on the right.
Such polarization leads to stalemate without doing anything to improve the country. We have real problems that we need to deal with and we do not have the political leadership or the political courage to change the status quo. We have an unsafe southern border, a homelessness problem that has spiraled out of control and rampant inflation, making it difficult for every single American to live in this country.
Are our elected leaders paying attention to these problems? No, they are too busy with their political theatre. Watching politicians today is like watching a soap opera. It is sad, pathetic and frankly depressing to watch. We don’t have problem-solvers in Congress, we have people who think too highly of themselves and have produced nothing of value in their lives.
What encourages this type of behavior?
The crux of this problem is the credit based monetary system. Easy money allows people in government to spend more than their means and create programs that can be paid for with “money” made out of thin air. Credit-based money encourages polarization because it allows politicians to build a base of voters who will vote for them, no matter what. They may say dumb and reckless things and get away with it because they know they will be re-elected. The re-election rate of incumbents is more than 90%.
Politicians are rewarded for “fighting” the other side, not for compromising to achieve something; Which will be seen as caving on the other side.
In the end, we are all spoiled for their greed and short-sightedness. We need new blood in the system. We need visionary people who can see the past of today and see what we can become in the future. If there is any group that I believe can do this, it would be bitcoiners.
we need visionaries
We need such visionary people who can present a better vision for the country. We need more in-depth thinkers who think beyond the next election and will plan for decades into the future. We need people who know how much the credit-based monetary system has corrupted our institutions and there will be an answer to this corruption.
We need leaders who understand that money based on credit will never last. Credit-based monetary systems always fail because people become so captivated by the allure of power that they cannot resist its allure for long.
As much as bitcoiners generally hate being involved in the political arena, we need them now more than ever. Who else will fight for our point of view if we are not protecting bitcoin at every turn in the halls of power? If we are not in the room to determine how to frame the rules, who will protect the bitcoin protocol from ignorant government bureaucrats?
Educating individual lawmakers is a noble and laudable goal that should be commended, but is it delivering the long-term results we need to protect bitcoin? In light of what happened with the addition of Tornado Cash to the OFAC SDN (Office of Foreign Assets Control, Specially Designated Citizens and Blocked Persons) list, we have a long way to go. When will these kinds of restrictions on CoinJoins and Whirlpool go away? Will they make coin mixing illegal, punishable with fines and prison sentences? If things continue as they are, it is certainly possible.
We all love and trust bitcoin because of its immense potential to save the world. If we don’t rise to defend it before mass adoption, bitcoin may be relegated to being merely an investment asset and store of value. If we want bitcoin to reach its full potential, we need to get organized.
Creating a political party is something I believe bitcoiners can pull off relatively easily. Bitcoiners are some of the most passionate people I have met. They genuinely care about the world and want to see it change for the better.
Just like bitcoin started from the ground up, a new bitcoin party is a mass movement that will truly embody the values of America. I encourage everyone to visit your Secretary of State’s website and see what it takes to start a political party in your state.
Now is our time.
