No sector of the economy or in fact life is secure with non-fungible tokens (NFTs) or tokens. Thanks to the efforts of LynxDAO, golf is the latest sport to succumb to the age of NFT’s attractiveness and decentralization.

With NFT sales declining, LinksDAO raised $10.5 million to fuel its golfing aspirations. Over 9,000 “Vacation Memberships” and “Global Memberships” NFTs were purchased on the OpenC platform, exchanged for Ether (ETH).

It looks like 2021 was a thriving year of Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) activity, with some treasuries rising 40x in value, with Golf also now driving crypto adoption.

However, unlike photographs of bored apes or raising funds for presidential campaigns, LinksDAO NFTs contribute to the operation of a DAO, which “will improve transparency around certain aspects of the organizational governance of a club’s business.”

As a result, LinksDAO NFTs are not membership cards for golf clubs; They are the key to community outreach, governance, and “a variety of perks.” NFTs will eventually unlock LinksDAO’s first golf and leisure club memberships.

As expected, NFT sales are only a means to launch a newly formed startup. The priority list of LinksDAO’s business plan is “identifying a list of golf courses for acquisition” and developing the $LINKS cryptocurrency token. These plans should come together in the middle of 2022.

The group is led by Mike Dudas, an acquaintance in crypto as the founder and CEO of The Block. An outspoken anti-Bitcoin (BTC) maximist, he rose to the #83 spot in Cointelegraph’s Top 100 Most Influential People in Crypto in 2020. His Twitter has taken the apt “Mike”. Daodas“Handle, and that of The Block, is linked to 6th Man Ventures a crypto VC, as well as Paxos and Venmo.

Despite the general market enthusiasm for DAO, some golf fans and NFT collectors were left scratching their heads about Dudas’ route to starting a golfing company by creating DAO.

Dudas clarified in a tweet that LinksDAO NFT “[does not]give ownership of the property, but it does give governing authority over the club design process and the ability to purchase membership in the club once.”
