As Fortune reports, the price of Dogecoin spiked briefly as Elon Musk sent a Shiba Inu mascot into the night sky using a drone during the launch event of the Texas Gigafactory.
Dogecoin mascot in “Cyber Rodeo” event
Tesla boss and Dogecoin fan Elon Musk warned that the launch event could turn out to be the “biggest party on earth”. It was called a “cyber rodeo” because a bunch of neon-lit displays were lit up and autonomous drones were used to create a light show in the sky. It was built to celebrate the opening of Tesla’s most recent Gigafactory in Texas.
During the event, several guests (Tesla applied to the authorities for permission to host 15,000 guests) saw the mascot of the original meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin, created by drones.

The party started at 4 p.m. Texas time, and took place less than two weeks after Tesla opened the first Gigafactory in Europe—Berlin. Now, the total number of Tesla Gigafactories around the world is six, including factories in Shanghai and several US states.
Dogecoin price surged more than 5% to $0.1527 earlier today as video of a Shiba Inu appearing in the dark sky during a Tesla party appeared in multiple accounts on Twitter.
However, as of now, the meme cryptocurrency is back at the $0.1453 level.
Elon Musk joins Twitter board with 9.2% stake; Is it good for Doge?
Earlier this week, U.Today reported that the Tesla chief had joined Twitter’s board of directors after he disclosed Twitter’s purchase of a 9.2% stake, holding 73.5 million TWTR shares.
This made Musk the company’s largest shareholder. The agreement signed with Twitter does not allow them to buy more than 14.9% of the shares.
Musk has announced that he looks forward to working with Twitter CEO Parag Agarwal and the Twitter board to “make significant improvements to Twitter in the coming months.”
To these improvements, apparently, an edit button will be added. The day before Musk’s investment was revealed, he ran a poll asking the community whether they wanted an edit button and whether they agreed that Twitter doesn’t allow free speech.
Many in the Dogecoin Army expect Musk to integrate DOGE into Twitter by adding a DOGE tipping feature (tipping in BTC and ETH has already been adopted by the social network) or in some other way integrating the meme cryptocurrency.
