- Facebook veteran Kemal El Moujahid oversaw TensorFlow at Google
- Their AI expertise could help Chainlink better identify executives for its oracle.
Chainlink is the most popular “Oracle” in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, serving as an essential source of information for millions of smart contracts – providing reliable data on everything from prices to asset locations to weather.
That’s why it’s notable that Chainlink has hired Kemal El Moujahid, who oversees product management for Google’s machine learning platform, called TensorFlow.
TensorFlow is an open-source software library for creating artificial intelligence and machine learning programs, best known for fueling advances in so-called Deep Neural Networks—training machines to recognize patterns in vast areas of data. A recent area of computing focusing on
The result is that Chainlink stands to gain the experience of one of the world leaders in AI, and its oracle services could in turn become faster and more sophisticated.
,[El Moujahid’s] Working there helped define the machine learning industry and enabled millions of developers to succeed using that technology. I am excited to see him join Chainlink Labs to replicate the success in the blockchain industry,” said Chainlink co-founder Sergei Nazarov said in a statement.
The addition of El Moujahid, also known for launching Facebook’s Messenger platform, could also help improve overall crypto security.
Like every part of the crypto ecosystem, oracles are targeted by hackers who exploit loopholes in smart contracts and steal funds. ChannelLink, the largest oracle and most decentralized, has largely avoided such incidents, although hackers launched a spam attack in 2020 that succeeded in robbing a handful of node operators.
Therefore, El Moujahid’s AI expertise could potentially help Chainlink not only identify authoritative data sources, but also screen it for malicious activity.
El Moujahid, who served as chief product officer at Chainlink, did not identify his immediate priorities, but said in a statement: “I have seen the incredible things that developers have created when machine learning tools are more accessible to them. I believe that smart contracts are fundamentally changing the world for the better.”
In recent months, Chainlink has added other notable executives from the Web2 world, including Mike Derazin, former Vice President of LinkedIn, who joined Chainlink Labs as the company’s chief operating officer, and Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google. , who joined as a consultant.
