The popular American actor, director, writer and producer took to Twitter yesterday to inform that he had been the victim of a phishing attack and that four NFTs were stolen, which was later flagged by OpenC.
- With its growth over the past year or two, the NFT industry has managed to attract countless celebrities, such as Eminem, Neymar, Madonna, Serena Williams, Snoop Dogg, and many others, to purchase such digital collections.
- Hollywood star Seth Greene, 48, known for films like The Italian Job, Robot Chicken and Party Monsters, is also one of those popular names. However, the Pennsylvania-born actor said on Tuesday that four of his NFTs were stolen through a phishing attack.
- Such attacks occur when the bad actor sends some sort of fraudulent message to trick the victim into revealing sensitive information – usually, to breach his computer or phone. After gaining access, the attacker is able to steal data or deploy malicious software such as ransomware.
- According to Green, the four NFTs stolen were from some of the most popular NFT collections, including Doodle, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and Bored Ape Yacht Club.
- His original tweets featured prices at the time, and he urged the community to refrain from buying and trading them while trying to address the issue.
- All four stolen digital collectibles are now flagged on OpenSea saying they were “reported for suspicious activity.”
