After conquering the NBA, Dapper Labs’ non-fungible token (NFT) trading card platform is heading to the Summer League in Vegas.
Popular NFT marketplace, NBA Top Shot, has announced that it will mint and sell a new collection of moments from the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The NFTs minted during summer league play will feature notable and exciting moments from the three days of games during August 8-10. The NFTs will be available exclusively to purchase at a Top Shot Kiosk at section 111 of the Thomas & Mack Center.
Each moment will be available for pre-order at $5. NBA Top Shot will let collectors know in advance which games the NFTs will be from in advance of tip-off. Each NFT will have at least 1,000 copies made and maybe more depending on how the pre-orders go. Each collector will be able to snag 10 NFTs per day from the event. Each of the NBA’s 30 squads is signed on to participate in the League and will be available for the NFT treatment.
The sale will mark the first time in Top Shot history that fans can buy moments in the arena, from a game they personally watched. In a tweet on the topic, Top Shot says that “For the 1st time EVER, Top Shot collectors will have the ability purchase a Moment in-arena, and receive a Moment from a game they saw in-person.”
Summer league unlocked
The moments selected for the collection are not just the first from the 2021 season, they are also part of a new Fandom tier from Dapper Labs. The Fandom tier will slot in between the lowest tier, common, and the rare tier. Additionally, non-NFT merchandise from Top Shot and Dapper Labs will be available for purchase.
Not only will the NFTs be up for sale, but Top Shot is also giving away eight VIP packages, sending winners to the Summer League with a lot of extras involved. All you have to do to put your name in the hat is to complete challenges in the app. For example, one entry can be earned by completing the 2021 NBA Playoffs challenges, while five can be awarded for completing the ‘And Then There Were Four’ Challenge. Players will also be awarded an entry for each NBA Playoffs common moment they own.
Winners for the raffle will be announced Thursday, August 5 at 1 PM PDT via Top Shot social media accounts.
