BAYC: Another Bored Ape NFT sells for a crazy-stupid price. Looks like the NFT feeding frenzy is still surging ahead!
Recently, a big player bought the Astronaut Bored Ape #6709.
The new owner of this NFT shelled out 100ETH, or $420,000. According to Opensea data, this is the second time the Bored Ape #6709 has been sold. The previous owner bought the NFT for just 0.75 Eth in May last year.
BAYC: Who bought it?
So who bought this NFT? Horizen Labs, a Web3.0 developer. They build blockchain products and tools for the “decentralization revolution.”
Just after the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) team announced their partnership with Horizen Labs on Twitter, the Horizen Labs bought the Ape. They say it was to signal their support of the NFT space, in which the BAYC and community play a role.
Dean Steinbeck, the President of Horizen Labs, said they wanted to be part of the BAYC community, and want to participate in multiple ways. “This includes bringing new products and services to the ecosystem to make it more diverse and robust.”
Tokenization space
Horizen Labs joining the BAYC hints at their master plan – to get into the tokenization space, and fast.
Rob Viglione, CEO of Horizen Labs, said, “This purchase is a sign of our strong partnership with the Bored Ape Yacht Club and our growing role in developing the Web3 space. When determining which Bored Ape to purchase, the Astronaut Bored Ape #6709 stood out to us. It is a signal that we are ready to go to the moon together with the BAYC community, the Horizen community, and all our other partners.”
Their future token releases will be called the Zenny Token and Zenny NFTs.
Horizen also say they will soon release their own tokenization platform.
