Dreams Quest AMA With Co-Founder Steve Good — Spotlight

Earn money with the top Binance exchange

Dreams Quest is a decentralized free-to-play, play-to-earn (P2E) role-playing game (RPG) that leverages blockchain and dynamic NFTs.

The CFO of Altcoin Buzz, Shitij Gupta, anchored the Dreams Quest AMA session on our Telegram channel. He was joined by Steve Good, the co-founder of Dreams Quest. The AMA took place on October 12th, 2021.

Below is a recap of the Dreams Quest AMA session with Steve Good to understand what the company has been up to recently.

Q – You have a very interesting background in the crypto world. Tell us more about yourself before we dive into Dreams Quest.

I started my career in software on the pre-sales side and then moved into consulting in financial services which I did for a number of years.

But, at some point, I realized something seemed broken with the whole financial system. Something just didn’t resonate or make sense to me. The fees were too high, there was too much rivalry inside banks to compete to deliver the same services, and it was all about flashing around your money, not doing good to help others. And I found myself feeling like it just wasn’t what I wanted to do anymore. So I left and went into crypto. And discovered so many amazing people and even more innovation.

So, back in 2016, I left all that behind and jumped into crypto. I have been working in crypto and blockchain since then. Since getting into crypto, I’ve done some advising, public speaking at a variety of events, and even writing a best-selling book for crypto beginners called Be Left Behind. And now of course, my latest venture, Dreams Quest.

Q – Tell us what Dreams Quest is about, and what are some of the unique features about it?

So at Dreams Quest, we are building a Play-to-Earn RPG and FREE-to-Play game using dynamic NFTs. Players can explore the realms to participate in events and quests. Battle play is player-vs-player and uses the NFT collectible cards and items for a fast-paced strategy card game.

Think of the game as something like an exploration game like Diablo where you have a 2D experience to wander around and experience new places. There are a series of quests that you can go on, plus you can do things like visit a marketplace, forge new items, upgrade your items, and manage your inventory. I like to explain the game as sort of having a few different things going on to let players choose what they want.

Quest mode: just going on quests, exploring the realms, and finding cool inventory.

Marketplace mode: build your own shop. Become a shopkeeper or a specialist like a blacksmith or alchemist. Be there to make money running a business to serve the players who just found that cool inventory.

Battle mode: where you go into battles. Dynamic ones where the weather conditions can affect card play.

The battle mode switches from RPG to using your card deck similar to Magic: The Gathering or Hearthstone. You want to have the best possible deck to win. And within the battle, players will be confronted by weather, darkness, and temperature, which will affect card attributes, making it a bit more dynamic and unpredictable.

So that just gives you an idea of some of the things we are working on. Just think of it as Diablo meets Hearthstone, a mixture of both. Plus, a marketplace where people can run a shop or help you upgrade items. Just to keep it lively and fun.

Q – How do players earn money in the game? I’m guessing it is something to do with the battle mode?

Actually think of how Diablo works. When you go on quests, you find chests, you find stuff lying around, you go through portals – you find loot. All of that stuff you find is just stuff you can either keep or sell. If you find the coins – well, you can keep them, spend them, or withdraw them.

If you find other in-game resources, then you can use them to upgrade or forge items. Of course, winning battles is another way or running a shop so that you can sell items to other players.

Of course, some in-game tournaments too, entry fee to play, and then winner takes all. So all of the in-game mechanics are there to run in a similar way to games we are already familiar with. Including that we all have limited inventory, so make sure you choose what you want to hold and sell what you don’t need so you don’t have to drop anything cause every item you find in the game (cards or items) are all NFTs. And you want to be sure to maximize your strategy for having the best stuff and selling stuff you don’t need.

Q – Talk to us a little about your roadmap. Out of the things you mentioned, what is completed and what is in the pipeline/expected to be completed?

As you know, making a game is a complex process. We have made a lot of progress with the dynamic NFT side to store attributes and modify them over time, and that means upgrading them too. Even some of the images can change the design side. You may have seen from our website some of the amazing work we are doing, and a lot more art work is being done. It takes a lot of design work for every little icon, every little badge, and all the work that makes the game beautiful.

The game design is an interesting process. We have done a ton of the game mechanics work and have what’s called “paper play” working. That means that we are able to test the game balance side of things to make sure that all the ways the game works doesn’t lean toward one type of person always winning, and we have a mini-game that’s in development called Dreams Quest Guardians. Sort of a light game that lets people get a feeling of the battles side of the game. Tons of design work taking place. So that gives you an idea of where we are. It’s really quite a complex but super fun experience.

Q – You mentioned Diablo and Hearthstone, which are both by Blizzard. Now Blizzard is 30 years old, has north of 5k people employed, and runs a multi-billion dollar budget.
How do you plan to create a similar game-playing experience with Dreams Quest with what I’m assuming with a fraction of the developers? Carrying on to what you mentioned about the intricacies of design, developing, testing, and deployment, what is it about the whole process that would make it easier for you to do?

Yeah that’s true. Well, we don’t expect to compete with a powerhouse studio, and we don’t have to hire the most expensive people to build this either.

We do have designers to make a game which can be attractive to the eyes. It would be easy to go overboard with tons of functions and features, and we know we have to limit what we can do until we can expand.

We do have some new advisors coming in soon that are industry veterans. I’m super excited about this, and that news will be out next week officially. So, with some guidance from experts in the field, we can certainly make sure we do this right with a budget and then expand on it and keep going. Even our video that dropped yesterday is mega high quality, but we had it done in a lower cost location which enabled us to do a lot more with our budget, so the most important thing I will say is we are trying to work smart.

Q – Talk to me a little bit about the token utility? And how will token holders benefit from the ecosystem?

It’s a fair question. I mean, I can’t actually talk about the trading side, legal stuff. But naturally the token utility is quite clear in the sense that DREAMS is an in-game resource like gold or crystals.

You will need it to buy cool stuff from chests of cards to card packs to single limited edition cards, upgrading, forging etc. Plus, entering into tournaments, that sort of thing.

Shitij: Yes, the in-game utility part

So as we see the ecosystem or economy coming alive, the token will be needed. If the token is used in-game, it means there is less on the market, and from a trader’s point of view, it’s all about supply and demand.

We create a token utility so that the token is needed in-game, and then there is less supply in-market. It’s not about squeezing liquidity – it’s about creating demand for token to use it in-game unless you earn it in-game. But, buying cool stuff will require having tokens. Sometimes limited supply items come and go fast. So that really comes down to the market and how it trades and how people react.

We will just create the mechanisms to let our community participate, and of course, the aim is for everyone to be able to earn from within the game once the game is out. Of course, there are plenty of ways to spend in the game to upgrade and buy stuff or participate in cool events. Hopefully, I’ve answered your question without saying anything about token price.

Q – Tell us about your IDO. Give us details on when, where, and how to participate and if you have a favorite launchpad for the community to get hold of DREAMS.

On the 14th, we will be on Duck Starter. Oh. That’s tomorrow, I just realized. On Friday the 15th, we will be on GameFi and Red Kite, so most of the participation is there now. We did some whitelisting giveaways in our discord before. But there is still time to get in on the IDOs, I believe. And actually that’s just the start of the exciting stuff. Our promo video came out last night too, and of course, post-IDO, the real fun starts.

Afterward, the Dreams Quest AMA saw Steve Good answering some questions that were selected from the Twitter giveaway.

Q. Twitter – Combining DeFi and gaming is a foundational concept of the project. How is the project leveraging elements of DeFi to make better games?

We have some special cards for all guardians. They are sort of like DAO cards but only for voting on their realm. But they do a lot more.

The guardians have special powers, and if you hold a guardian, then you get these powers applied to all of your cards. Unstaked, you get things like +exp. But, the actual powers of a guardian come when they bond with a guild, and when that happens, then it gets exciting.

Unstaking a guardian means everyone gets the aura powers of the guardian. All the players in the guild, plus you, get some +resource benefits

Staking the attributes above switch off and instead, you get +magical powers AND +increases in DREAMS earned. So think of this like staking increases the amount of DREAMS you earn and unstaking earns you other in-game resources used for other in-game purchase activities.

So guardian holders can still play solo, but the real fun comes when the guardian bonds with a guild so that everyone including the guardian earns more or gets boosts in aura or other skills. These boosts still translate to getting more exp, which increases the value of cards and inventory later on too. This is all a gamified way to DeFi it all.

Q. Twitter – Can the items or NFTs from Dreams Quest be traded on the secondary markets or external NFT marketplaces Like OpenSea and Binance NFT Marketplace?

Yes, on OpenSea. Binance is a closed system.

Q. Twitter – What are the benefits of taking part in your project ecosystem? I am an investor. Do you have liquidity mining or single side staking after launch?

We will have an LP staking program. BUT, you will earn NFTs from staking. It will work like this:

Stake LP; earn a chest every month. Open the chest and get free drops from the chest. Chances of winning really cool/expensive stuff.

Possibility that you get a magical chest when you stake. This chest never goes away. You have it for life. Every month, you can still open that one.

So you get a standard chest every month but could get a magical one instead which you can use forever.
